Clothes Dryer Repairs
Repairing your dishwasher usually much cheaper and convenient than replacing it. Give me a call and I’ll book you in for a callout to diagnose any problem with your clothes dryer.
Model and serial numbers
When you contact me I will need the correct model and serial number for your machine. Providing me a photo of the serial sticker is the most accurate way to do this.
On most dryers the serial sticker will be on the frame behind the door.
No matter what the complaint is with a dryer, they almost always need an internal clean.
Here are some common issues with dryers
Blocked air flow. All dryers require a clean environment and space around them to be clear to work well. This is because the circulate air in a room and if that air is dusty or full of animal hair then the internals of the machine will clog up. This can cause all kinds of problems. Venting a conventional dryer to the outdoors is essential for optimal operation.
Always clear the lint filter after every cycle. On a condenser machine be sure to clean the condenser module once a month.
Burning smells: This most often occurs when the machine is in the same room as an animal bed. The animal hairs are burning on the heating element. Most of the time the machine will need to be dismantled and the air path cleared.
Overheating: If the internals of a dryer get too hot the internal temperature overload will kicks in and the machine will either stop working or stop heating. This is another cleaning the air path job.
Not spinning: Either the belt, the transmission pulley or the motor capacitor has failed.
Noisy: The support roller rubbers may have perished. Or if squeeky the transmission pulley will need lubrication or replacement.
Not working at all: On older dryers without an electronic controller this can simply be a bad power switch.
All of these faults can be sorted easily provided the manufacturer still has the parts available.
