Vacuum Cleaner Repairs

Vacuum cleaners are generally simple machines. They have a suction motor, a control panel or switch and filters. High end models have rotating brushes in their head unit.

They come in all shapes and sizes. Some are wet and dry. Battery powered ones are very popular with home owners. Corded models are more popular with commercial cleaning companies.

Generally, corded machines are more reliable than those powered by a battery. Battery powered ones tend to have smaller motors that will have their bearings fail much sooner than one with a larger motor.

Common complaints about vacuum cleaners

Bad suction: More often than not the internal filters will need a good clean.

Not working at all: Either the switch or the motor has failed.

Noisy: The bearings in the motor are worn. In most cases a replacement motor is the only option. However, with some older models or commercial ones, the motor bearings can be replaced.

Head brush not turning: This can be caused by a bad electrical connection, a bad motor or drive belt.

Cord is damaged.

If you have any of these issues bring the machine to me and I will sort it.
