Dishwasher Repairs
Repairing your dishwasher usually much cheaper and convenient than replacing it. Give me a call and I’ll book you in for a callout to diagnose any problem with your dishwasher.
Model and serial numbers
When you contact me I will need the correct model and serial number for your machine. Providing me a photo of the serial sticker is the most accurate way to do this.
On most dishwashers the sticker is on the side of the door when opened.
For a dish drawer pull the top drawer out and look on the frame of the machine on the left side.
Common Issues with Dishwashers
Obstructed or Blocked Spray Arms can cause a number of complaints. If a spray arm in your machine is blocked or obstructed is will not turn regularly. Symptoms include, bad cleaning, detergent cakes not dissolving or leaking. Some plastic spray arms will split when old and this can stop them moving also. Some machines will leak if a spray arm stops moving and directs water directly at the door seal.
Be sure to rinse your dishes before loading your washer to avoid spray arms jets becoming blocked.
Not draining: If the impeller of the drain pump becomes obstructed the machine will not be able to drain. Pumps do fail though and if no obstruction is found a new pump might be the solution.
If your main pump fails the machine may throw up an error code but some machines just tick down the time and do nothing else!
Some machines have diverter valves which direct the water to different parts of the machine. These can fail.
If the machine is dead completely, more often than not the main control board has failed.
All of these faults can be sorted easily provided the manufacturer still has the parts available.
